Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich says the metal band has a full-time archivist on its staff. Would that not be the coolest job ever? Sign us up!
“We actually have a person who works for us, Bob Pfiefer, whose full-time job is to travel the world in solitude and try and unearth Metallica tapes and Metallica first-generation masters, and that type of stuff,” Ulrich said in an interview with Revolver. “That’s literally his only job!”
It’s a good thing they have an archivist on staff, too. Pfiefer’s catalog of Metallica material came in handy when putting together Metallica’s deluxe “Master of Puppets” reissue, which dropped today (Nov. 10).
“Everything that we could think of for Master of Puppets was unearthed,” Ulrich said. “And there were a couple of things we left out of there, mostly because it had already been out there on some bootlegs or other stuff.”
