From Sports to Music: My New Books Are Out in the World

Anne Erickson's books.
Anne Erickson’s new books explore the heart of music and sports culture. They’re both nostalgic and educational, and more are on the way.

There’s something surreal about seeing your books sitting on Amazon, even after years spent writing about music, sports, business, and life on deadlines that don’t care whether you slept the night before. You spend so much time researching stories, filing columns, rewriting headlines, and living inside other people’s moments that it hits differently when the work sitting in front of you is fully your own.

And honestly? That feeling never gets old.

So, yes, I have a collection of books available now on Amazon. And more are on the way. Make a girl blush and check them out, please, and maybe even buy one.

Inside Anne’s Collection on Amazon KDP

My author name on Amazon is Anne’s Collection, and that’s where you will find my works waiting for you.

What makes this batch of releases especially fun is that they all come from the same place: genuine love for music, sports and life. These are books written for people who love music loudly, argue about sports passionately, and still get excited discovering something new. They’re for the longtime fans and the people just getting started. Because everybody starts somewhere.

Music Books

For the music crowd, “The Beginner’s Guide to Grunge Music: Discover the Bands, Songs, and History of the Seattle Sound” dives into one of the messiest, loudest, and most emotionally honest eras in rock history. Grunge always felt bigger than just a genre. It was a mood, a reaction, a statement wrapped in flannel. The book walks through the bands, records, and moments that shaped the scene without turning it into some dry history lecture. It’s written the way people actually talk about music when they love it.

Then there’s “The Beginner’s Guide to Hair Metal,” which was just plain fun to write. Hair metal gets mocked a lot, but let’s be honest: Those bands knew exactly how to make giant hooks, ridiculous guitar riffs, and songs that still somehow end up blasting out of car speakers decades later. There’s something lovable about the excess of that era. Big hair, bigger choruses, absolutely zero shame. As there should be.

Sports Books

The sports side got just as much love. “A Fun & Simple History of Basketball for Every Fan: Learn, Love, and Live the Game” is exactly what the title promises. Basketball can feel intimidating if you’re newer to it because fans throw around stats, legends, and eras like everyone automatically knows the references. This book slows things down without talking down to readers. It gets into the personalities, rivalries, iconic moments, and heart of the sport in a way that feels welcoming instead of gatekept.

More From Anne: Anne’s Band Upon Wings

The same goes for “The Beginner’s Guide to Professional Football in America: Legends, Plays, and the Heart of the Game.” Football is emotional chaos disguised as a sport. It’s strategy and violence and tradition and heartbreak all smashed together under stadium lights. The book breaks down the game in a way that’s approachable but still respects how deep the sport runs for fans. Whether someone is learning the basics or just wants to reconnect with why they fell in love with football in the first place, it’s built for that.

A Personal Book

Then, there’s the most personal book of the bunch. “Finding Your Inner Self Through Music: A Guide to Trust Yourself, Quiet the Noise, and Find Self-Love” came from a quieter place emotionally. Music has this weird ability to show people parts of themselves they’ve been trying to ignore. One song can hit harder than an entire conversation sometimes. This book gets into that connection between music and identity, confidence, healing, and self-worth without sounding overly polished or preachy about it.

More From Anne: Anne’s Solo Music

At the center of all these books is the same idea: a passion for living, sports and art. The things people love become part of who they are. A favorite band can carry somebody through a rough year. A football game can connect generations of a family. A basketball player can inspire a kid to believe they belong somewhere.

Seeing these books finally available on Amazon feels exciting. But more than anything, it feels good knowing they’re out there now for you to read, feel, and experience, just as I envisioned.
