You know I have a lot of Michigan pride. You also probably know that I love Detroit and work as a radio broadcaster in the Motor City. That said, I was very happy when Redfin, the technology-powered real estate brokerage, recently reached out to me and asked to interview me about some of the best aspects of Detroit and the Detroit revival.

The Detroit Revival and Things to Do

Redfin.com has a new feature out about your ideal Detroit and Michigan bucket list, called “Cruising the Motor City: Essential Detroit, Michigan Bucket List.” Knowing that I’m a Michigan and Detroit girl, they reached out to me to ask for some advice on things to do in the Motor City.

I thought about what to say in my response for a while, because there’s so much great stuff to do in Detroit. Plus, there’s a massive Detroit revival going on right now. The city is really clean and beautiful, and it’s hopping. Every night, there’s something exciting going on downtown.

One big reason there’s so much to do in downtown Detroit is because all of the major venues are right in the heart of downtown. You have Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena and Comerica Park all within walking distance of each other. Of course, Detroit is also a very spread-out city, so there are venues throughout the city and even a ways out. But, the major ones are all right together, and that makes for a vibrant, robust downtown area.

Detroit Things to Do

With that in mind, I really wanted to highlight the great venues and sports teams that Detroit has to offer. The Detroit Lions play at Ford Field, the Tigers are at Comerica Park and the Pistons and Red Wings are at Little Caesars.

So, when Redfin came to me, I praised the amazing sports teams that Detroit has to offer and suggested that anyone visiting or living in the area should go to a game. “New residents to Detroit should absolutely go to a Detroit game and watch one of our major league teams,” I said in the interview. “One of the first things new residents should do is either go to a Detroit Lions game at Ford Field, Tigers game at Comerica Park, a Pistons game at Little Caesars Arena, or Red Wings game at Little Caesars Arena. Detroit’s sports teams are better than ever, and having all these venues downtown brings life to the Motor City.”

I was really glad to see that other people interviewed for the story highlighted Detroit’s great music scene, art and more. I really think Detroit is underrated when it comes to the arts.

So, if you’re visiting Michigan or Detroit or moving to the area, check out Redfin.com’s article for some things to do. I promise that you won’t lack for entertainment. I always find new things to do, and I’ve lived in this state my entire life.

Since I highlighted sports in the article, I want to remind you to check out my interview with Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. It was a pleasure to inerview him, and he’s one of the most down-to-earth NFL guys you’ll meet.
